As promised this article is about ALS. I am going to give you the facts. Not my views or feelings on the subjet nor will there be any personnal info in this one. It may be a hard read for some, but I feel you need to know what the illness is to be able to understand how we live our lives. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. Mum go and get the box of tissues from beside Dad's bed. Knowing you, you'll need it. xxx Sorry for that side note. As I start to write this it is 11.57pm. In 3 minutes it will be my birthday, I thought you would like to know how I feel on days like tomorrow... "Make a wish as you blow out your candles", "Oh look a shooting star make a wish", "Blow on this eyelash and make a wish", "Star light, Star bright, First star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I make tonight." I always make the same wish. "I wish Daddy could give me one last hug, and could tell me he loves me one more time". But no matter how hard I want it, no matter how many times I make the same wish, it never comes true...   Cher Papounet, Tu es le premier homme que j'ai aimé. Tu es mon héros. Tes bras sont les premiers dans les quels je me sentais protégé, en sécurité. Le sourire qui illumine ton visage quand tu me vois me fait sentir si heureuse et adorée. Merci d'être à l'écoute.
